چکیده

The dephosphorylation of ATP and UTP in dependence on pH proceeds for both nucleoside 5'-triphosphates (NTP) with the same rate indicating that the nucleic base moieties have no influence on this reaction. This is different in the presence of Cu2+ which promotes the scission of the terminal y phosphate group with both NTP5, but with ATP the reaction is considerably more facilitated. Evidence is given that in the Cu2-ATP systems the base moiety is involved in the reaction, while UTP shows the properties of a simple organic triphosphate (R-TP), like methyltriphosphate, and for these the most reactive intermediate is a Cu2 (R-TP) (OH) complex. This result contrasts with that for the Cu2-ATP system: here the reaction proceeds via a [Cu2(ATP)]2(OH)T,22 dimer. The structures of both reactive intermediates are discussed and compared; reference to other NTP-metal ion systems is made, and some possible implications regarding enzymic systems are indicated.

An Adenosine Triphosphate Bioluminescence Method for Evaluating the Microbial Contamination of the Salad-Preparing Tables and Salad-Serving Dishes in Restaurants of Mashhad City, Iran

Introduction: Consumption of vegetable products is increasing commonly in the world because they are recognized as an important source of nutrients, vitamins, and fiber for humans. Salads are among the most widely used foods that are also known as the most contaminated foods in restaurants. This study was conducted to determine the microbial contamination of salad-preparing tables and salad-ser...

Metal ion-assisted stacking interactions and the facilitated hydrolysis of nucleoside 5'-triphosphates

The self-association properties of the common nucleosides and nucleotides are summarized; if defined via their nucleobases they decrease in the order, adenine > guanine > hypoxanthine > cytosine 2 uracil. Next, some aspects of the metal ion-promoted dephosphorylation of nucleoside 5'-triphosphates (NTPs) are reviewed. It is shown that the dephosphorylation rate in the presence of Cu2' decreases...

The Effect of Vitrification and in vitro Culture on the Adenosine Triphosphate Content and Mitochondrial Distribution of Mouse Pre-Implantation Embryos

Background: The mitochondria are an important source of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production in pre-implantation embryo. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the effect of vitrification and in vitro culture of mouse embryos on their mitochondrial distribution and ATP content. Methods: The embryos at 2-PN, 4-cell and blastocyst stages were collected from the oviduct of st...

Multiple intracellular pathways for regulation of chloride secretion in cultured pig tracheal submucosal gland cells.

Tracheal submucosal glands are of great relative importance in the secretion of chloride and water to the airway lumen. This study aimed to examine whether the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) is involved in cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) or Ca2+-activated Cl- secretion. Regulation of Cl- secretion in cell cultures derived from pig tracheal submucosal gland acin...

Modulators of Ion Transport in Nasal Polyps: An in situ Measurement of Short-Circuit Current

OBJECTIVES To examine possible modulators of the ion transport through the apical membrane of the nasal polyps. METHODS The study was conducted using the freshly-excised nasal polyps from the patients with chronic sinusitis. A voltage-sensitive vibrating probe technique was introduced to monitor the short-circuit current across the apical membrane of the polyp at 37°C. RESULTS In the presen...
